The Information and Communication Minister Izarra denied that professional troops had seized the National Guard headquarters in Amazonas state, as reported by some media.
Venezuelan Minister of Communication and Information Andrés
Izarra Monday denied claims that there are tensions or irregular
situations within the National Armed Force.
In view of the
cancellation of the traditional army parade on June 24th in
Carabobo Battlefield, and rumors about alleged dissatisfaction
within the army and confrontations between the army and the
National Guard, Izarra said that there are no irregularities
whatsoever at military bases.
Izarra denied that professional troops had seized the National
Guard headquarters in Amazonas state, as reported by some media.
Referring to these rumors, the Minister said that "these
claims come from military officers who have been linked to
destabilizing processes in the past."
