The Venezuelan government will execute an agreement with
Spanish companies to buy weaponry despite US warnings, Venezuelan
ambassador to Spain Arévalo Méndez Romero said,
as quoted by Efe.
This statement followed the remarks made by his US counterpart
Eduardo Aguirre, who remembered that the US authorization
is needed to sell 12 airplanes and eight patrol boats made
in Spain as they incorporate US technology.
There is no problem, a deal was made, the Venezuelan diplomat
said. "There is technology enough in Europe to replace US
technological components," he added.
