Attorney General backs key witness

A campaign has been launched to demean Giovanny José Vásquez De Armas, the key witness in the murder of public prosecutor Danilo Anderson, Attorney General Isaías Rodríguez said Thursday in Valencia, the capital city of central Carabobo state.

The senior official pointed to attempts at intimidation to make him fell insecure and inaccurate at the time of giving testimony at the courthouse.

Rodríguez, who visited Carabobo state to attend a ceremony hosted by the local government to award him the order Batalla de Carabobo, suspects of steps to discredit one of the witnesses for the Attorney General Office.

He regretted that the witness has been accused of using several identities and having voted in recent elections. Also, it has been said that he is a guerrilla member, impostor, and swindler.

In my experience as a lawyer, instead of attorney, the witness, whoever he is, is to talk about what he saw.

In his view, everything about Giovanny Vásquez, including the information provided by the Colombian Security Administration (DAS,) is part of intimidation to prevent him from giving testimony, or make him hesitate and be inaccurate.
