The 27 Colombians held in Ramo Verde reclusion center accused
of belonging to paramilitary groups seeking to destabilize
the government of President Hugo Chávez asked the Venezuelan
judiciary to issue a prompt judgment and requested more cooperation
from Colombia.
The inmates told a Colombian radio station via cellular phone
that they pleaded no guilty for the charges and asked the
Colombian state to help them overcome their situation, DPA
reported.
"You know that we are alone here. We do not receive any more
personal care products or visits, because our relatives cannot
afford travel and the State does not help," a prisoner requesting
anonymity regretted.
Las October 25th, the 27 Colombian were sentenced to six-year
imprisonment, but the judgment was appealed.
