Bolivian President Evo Morales said he is launching on Wednesday
a massive free identification campaign based on Venezuelan
technical expertise and resources.
Morales is to explain the plan during a ceremony in San José
de Chiquitos, where he is to conduct a special meeting with
his cabinet, AFP reported.
The Bolivian ruler intends to increase people's participation
in the upcoming elections for the Constituent Assembly and
the referendum on autonomic provinces, scheduled for July
2nd.
Venezuela is to provide technical and financial support for
the USD 8 million Bolivian National Identity Plan, under which
identity cards are to be granted for free to more than 1 million
people in rural areas.
On Monday, Morales launched a literacy campaign, and praised
both Cuban and Venezuelan efforts to fight illiteracy.
