A spot using the image of Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez
to criticize candidate for president Manuel Andrés López
Obrador will be removed, Manuel Espino, the chair of ruling
Partido Acción Nacional (PAN,) announced.
The ads uses Chávez' words addressed to Mexican President
Vicente Fox, following criticism last October for his opposition
to the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA,) DPA reported.
Last October, Chávez advised Fox not to pick a quarrel
with him, otherwise, he "could be nettled."
The spot came along with a number of accusations concerning
alleged funding of the central-leftwing candidate by President
Chávez. A big fuss was made -Mexican Foreign Minister
denied the version and Chávez regretted that the rightwing
used him to attack López Obrador.
Foreigners cannot intervene in Mexican domestic politics.
Therefore, political partiecannot use foreign individuals
for campaign or funding.
