For the last 7 years, President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela
has failed to deliver on his 1998 campaign promises to reduce
poverty and corruption. In fact, both have increased while
he has spent $500 billion building a dictatorship in Latin
America’s first democracy, tricking many into believing he
is a democrat working for the poor.
On December 3rd, 2006 Venezuela has a presidential election
that has significance for everyone who cares about poverty,
democracy and human rights. I have written a book that outlines
a campaign strategy that could defeat Chavez, and a government
program that will defeat poverty in Venezuela by 2011.
Those of you who have been following my newspaper columns
in El Universal, VenEconomy Monthly, or The Caracas Daily
Journal will be familiar with the strategy. Poverty was effectively
defeated in Alaska by the land claims settlement with the
indigenous people and the Alaska Permanent Fund that shared
oil wealth with the whole population. Venezuela is also an
oil state and could do the same, but instead has become a
militarized nightmare as in Kafka’s “The Trial.”
This book is important for Latin Americans to consider now.
Therefore, I am self-publishing and selling the book via the
Internet. To support that publishing effort, I am asking my
friends, colleagues, interested readers and concerned citizens
to invest $25 in the purchase of the book. May I count on
you to do so right now?
I have created michael.rowan.book@gmail.com
to take book orders. Each book will be inscribed personally
and mailed to you directly. I truly appreciate your support,
and so will millions of Venezuelans who are searching for
a solution to poverty and corruption in this once-lovely and
now very frightening country.
Thank you,
Sincerely,
Michael Rowan

“Clinton knew it when he first ran for president.
I knew it from dozens of campaigns where Michael and I worked
together. And Latin American candidates will know it when
they read this book: his campaign strategies are excellent
for the crisis in Venezuela and Latin America.”
