President Hugo Chávez Thursday said that he is creating
an "Axis of Evil" with Latin American heads of state who share
his ideas in order to resist imperialism, which, in his opinion,
is trying to seize the Americas.
"We are creating a South American Axis of Evil, as some call
it," Chávez said sarcastically, referring himself to
US remarks on the negative influence that he would be exerting
on some countries in the hemisphere.
In a meeting with businessmen in Brazil, the Venezuelan President
labelled a meeting he would hold next week with Brazilian
President Luiz Inacio Lula Da Silva and his Argentinean counterpart
Néstor Kirchner as a meeting of the "Axis of Evil."
Chávez said that this axis would increase with the incorporation
of the Presidents of Bolivia Uruguay, and Paraguay -Evo Morales,
Tabaré Vásquez, and Nicanor Duarte, respectively.
