Chávez welcomes Caribbean Premiers

Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez met at his office Prime Ministers Roosevelt Skerrit, of Dominica, and Ralph Goncalves, of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, to discuss energy cooperation and solidarity among the three nations.

On his arrival in Miraflores presidential palace, the government headquarters, they were welcome according to their status when a military parade composed of the regiment of the Presidential Guard of Honor played the national anthems of both republics, a press release stated.

A number of Venezuelan ministers and Victor Autrey, the Minister of Housing, Energy, Communications and Ports of the Commonwealth of Dominica, attended the meeting.

Venezuela has energy ties with both Caribbean nations pursuant to Petrocaribe, an agreement including the Dominican Republic, Granada, Jamaica, Suriname, Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Kits and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Belize, Bahamas, Guyana and Cuba.
