National Electoral Council (CNE) director Sandra Oblitas does not know the Venezuelan electoral system, NGO Súmate regretted Wednesday. Previously, Oblitas had hinted the possibility of not providing full data on the home address for enrollment or update of voters at the register.

In a press release, Súmate reminded the official of article 100, Organic Law on Suffrage and Political Participation. The instrument sets forth voters' duty to report their residence data to the Electoral Registry Office.

The provision states as follows: "In the event of proving non-fulfillment of the obligation established in this article, or false information, voters will be imposed the penalties provided for in this law. In the case of reallocation, it will be null and void, regardless of the relevant penalty."

The NGO remembered that CNE should check the authenticity of the data provided by voters.
