CARACAS, Tuesday August 29, 2006 | Update
Caracas Metropolitan Mayoralty ordered to take the gulf courses
of Civil Association Valle Arriba Golf Club, an official source
said.
Metropolitan Gazette general coordinator Roxana Salazar told
AP that last August 24 a decree of the Caracas Mayoralty came
into force on compulsory purchase in the public interest of
the courses of Caracas Country Club and Valle Arriba Golf
Club.
In accordance with the decree, the Metropolitan Solicitor
General should enforce the expropriation order.
Edition No. 001512 of the Metropolitan Gazette -the journal
where official decrees are disseminated- establishes taking
of these lands to "provide the residents of Caracas Metropolitan
District with housing."
Additionally, "temporary occupation" is set forth and the
Metropolitan Police is instructed to guard the estate seized
on a permanent basis.
