Venezuelan-Guatemalan good relations are above the dispute
for a non-permanent seat at the United Nations (UN)
Security Council, said Monday Sergio Fernando Morales Alvarado,
Guatemalan Human Rights Solicitor General.
"Either country can represent with dignity the region in
this position," he added.
"Venezuela or Guatemala will know how to enforce regional
interests. It is a position in an international context, but
it is not the most important thing," Morales Alvarado stressed
after a meeting with Venezuelan Vice-President José Vicente
Rangel.
In accordance with a press release from the Vice-President's
Office, in the opinion of the Guatemalan senior representative,
also the head of the Ombudsmen of Central American Countries,
Panama and Belize, the contest is related to the present.
"Relations among fellow peoples are permanent, and there
are many places where we need to meet," he pointed out.
