Thousands of followers of President Hugo Chávez have gathered at the presidential palace of Miraflores, downtown Caracas, to celebrate the re-election of the Venezuelan ruler for the 2007-2013 presidential term.

From the so-called President’s Balcony, Chávez hailed Venezuela, the “socialist revolution,” and Liberator Simón Bolívar.

“This is an accomplished fact, this is another great victory of the Bolivarian revolution,” he said in his first address following his re-election.
