CARACAS, Thursday December 07, 2006 | Update
Parliamentarian and constitutional lawyer Carlos Escarrá
Thursday said many things "in connection with the social communication
media" would be reviewed in 2007, but not with a goal to "restrict
freedom of speech, but to review things."
In an interview with official TV channel VTV, he hinted that
the broadcasting license to private TV network RCTV would
be reviewed. He added one of the proposals that have been
made in this connection is giving management of RCTV to cooperatives
or universities with journalism schools.
As to the intended constitutional reform, he invited the
opposition to join discussions and take a "responsible" stance.
04:17 PM. Western Hemisphere. "Damned empire; I curse you one thousand times; some day you will be finished off and wrecked. I curse you one thousand times, empire." This is the least that President Hugo Chávez has uttered to refer to the US government. In urging the Bolivarian Armed Forces to prepare for war, he said that a US raid on Venezuela through Colombia would trigger and spread over the region "the 100-year war."
