Venezuelan Legislature declares emergency to discuss Chávez' Enabling Law


The second vice-president of the National Assembly, Roberto Hernández (Communist Party of Venezuela), said the Venezuelan Legislature as of Tuesday is holding emergency sessions to pass an Enabling Law granting special powers to President Hugo Chávez.

The bill will be delivered during the plenary session on Tuesday. The bill will be submitted for a first discussion next January 18th. Next January 23rd, the bill will be discussed for a second time and passed, Hernández said, adding he did not know what and how many laws the Executive Branch is to present.
