The Foreign Exchange Administration Board (Cadivi) said it
authorized sales of USD 3.13 billion in January 2007, with
average daily sales at USD 142.3 million, and applications
amounting to 42,615 in the same month.
In a press release, Cadivi said authorizations soared 85.9
percent versus USD 1.68 billion authorized in January 2006,
when daily authorizations of US dollar sales at the official
rate averaged USD 80 million.
In 2006, daily authorizations of US dollar sales at the official
rate averaged USD 110 million.
In 2006, the amount of USD dollar allocated to Venezuelan
credit card holders for purchases abroad and over the Internet
amounted to USD 268.6 million.
