The Venezuelan Government Friday dispatched a second shipment
of humanitarian aid to Bolivia, including helicopters, water
pumps, children food, as well as doctors and rescuers to help
the victims of the heavy rains that have left 40 people dead
and 350,000 homeless.
Venezuelan Minister of the Interior and Justice Pedro Carreño
said Venezuela dispatched for Bolivia a Hercules C-130 airplane
carrying rescuers, 10 doctors, tents, blankets, water pumps,
food, medicines, children clothes and bedclothes.
Together with the Venezuelan shipment, two Cuban airplanes
with cargo capacity of 10 and 20 tons departed from Maiquetía
international airport, near Caracas, Carreño said.
Venezuela also dispatched "two France-made helicopters we
are donating to Bolivia," the official told reporters at the
airport.
Carreño said a third shipment of humanitarian aid to
Bolivia would be dispatched next March 4th.
President Hugo Chávez late Thursday said Venezuelan
aid to Bolivia amounts to USD 15 million.
