The Venezuelan Government has made a decision "to develop
intelligence into a coordinated system," and is drafting the
relevant bill for passage under President Hugo Chávez'
special ruling powers.
The bill has been submitted to the pertinent sectors for
consideration. It was delivered to the Directorate of Police
Intelligence Services (Disip) and is expected to be forwarded
to the Scientific, Penal and Criminology Investigation Agency
(Cicpc) over the next few days.
While parliamentarian Juan José Mendoza, vice-chair
of the Committee on Defense, National Assembly, would disclose
any details on the bill, he hinted that the proposal seeks
creation of a national intelligence and counterintelligence
center to govern these activities.
