TV channels and multiple radio stations in Salvador Monday
went off the air for five minutes in solidarity with private
TV network Radio Caracas Televisión (RCTV) and against
the decision of the government of President Hugo Chávez
not to renew a broadcast license, Efe reported.
They media, called by the Salvadorian Broadcasters' Association
(Asder), stopped broadcasting at 7:00 a.m., local time. They
meant to repeat the action Monday at 20:00 hours.
For his part, Juan Sepúlveda, CEO of the Costa Rica'
National Radio Chamber, told TV news channel Globovisión
that they had staged a protest Monday against the Venezuelan
government move.
