State-run oil holding Petróleos de Venezuela (Pdvsa)
subsidiary Citgo Petroleum Corp. slowed down Friday the operation
rate in a catalytic cracking unit that produces gasoline inside
its refinery located in Corpus Christi, Texas.
The decision was made as troubles arose in the alkylation
unit, said operators Monday.
The refinery has a processing capacity of 156,000 bpd of
oil, Reuters reported.
Operators said that the failure in the alkylation unit led
to reduce the operation rate in the cracking unit, which,
according to the Venezuelan government, can process up to
81,800 bpd.
There was no information available as to the amount of the
shrinking output or when the repairs will end.
A company source could not comment on the refinery daily
operations.
