President Chávez says pro-government Podemos party is against him
"You cannot take sides both with God and the devil," said
President Hugo Chávez loud and clear. While he did not
give names, it is apparent that Deputy Ismael García,
Sucre state governor Ramón Martínez and pro-government
Podemos and PPT parties were the targets of his threats.
"Perhaps the masks of some of them fell down, but they fear
to say outspokenly that they are against me. Then they say:
'We back Chávez, yet do not agree with his authoritarianism
or his authoritarian socialism.' Come on; tell it once and
for all, you are against me."
According to Chávez, some parties claim to have supported
the revolution, but have retreated. "Perhaps they endorsed
it, but their leaders cannot stand it anymore."
"Let the dead bury their dead and help shape and enliven
the great (United Socialist Party of Venezuela) PSUV. Let
us push the reform," said Chávez.
He recommended the opposition not to make a mistake again
and advised his followers who intend to take distance, "because
moving farther away is being against the revolution."
