Venezuelan Israeli Confederation rebuffs visit of Iranian president
The Venezuelan Confederation of Israeli Associations (CAIC)
Wednesday voiced disagreement with an upcoming visit of Iranian
President Mahmud Ahmadineyad to Venezuela due to his aggressive
stance against Israel.
In a press release posted on local newspapers, the organization,
in the name of the Venezuelan-Jewish community, including
many survivors of the Holocaust, regretted "the continued
and constant threats to wipe Israel off the map and his (Ahmadineyad's)
unreasonable, cynic statements to deny the Holocaust."
"We speak up against the Iranian president's remarks that
encourage hatred, endanger the world peace and undermine the
efforts made by democratic peoples for peaceful living together,"
stated the notice, as quoted by DPA.
Ahmadineyad is to pay a two-hour visit to Venezuela on Thursday,
following his trip to Bolivia, according to President Hugo
Chávez.
