The association of Venezuelan residents in Brussels, "Venezuelans
in Brussels," is to stage next Friday a "large demonstration"
in front of the Venezuelan embassy to protest against the
changes to the Constitution, under the aegis of Venezuelan
President Hugo Chávez.
According to a press release issued early Wednesday, the
association that pools about one hundred people will protest
near the diplomatic mission against "Chávez' coup," DPA
quoted.
"The purpose of the demonstration is to denounce the constitutional
coup d'etat prepared by Chávez after the referendum scheduled
for next December 2nd."
The association thinks, that the state of affairs in Venezuela
"is so serious that even Chávez' faithful ally, (ex minister
of defense) General Isaías Baduel, resolved to speak
up against the constitutional fraud."
The proposal submitted last August 15th by the Venezuelan
ruler "seeks clearly to remove representative democracy as
a political system and concentrate the whole state power in
the hands of the president of the Republic, under a totalitarian,
militarist regime."
