CNE admits increasing complaints

National Electoral Council (CNE) principal director Sandra Oblitas conceded that CNE had received a larger amount of complaints related to the automatic system, compared with previous polls.

Oblitas explained that most irregularities were due to the inadequate use of the voting automatic system, but noted that they had been addressed effectively because CNE had made provision well in advance.

"We dealt with contingencies within the framework of our responsibilities because we made the necessary provision," said Oblitas.

The director elaborated on the way to vote and noted that despite some inconveniences, the polling day is passing off quite normally. She recalled that polling stations would remain open as long as there were people willing to vote.

"Polling stations are scheduled to close by 4:00 p.m. However, they will be open as long as there are voters standing in the lines."
