Venezuelan VP: this is a tight vote

Venezuelan Vice-President and leader of pro-reform electoral taskforce Comando Zamora Jorge Rodríguez Sunday conceded that the result of the reform vote "is close."

He added that President Hugo Chávez' political organization hailed the balloting day "despite all of the attempts at destabilizing, despite the fact that anti-democratic sectors tried to prevent this vote."

"The referendum took place smoothly. All Venezuelans should be happy for this. We are familiar with polls; we are used to live in democracy. Venezuela's is not only one of the world's most modern democracy, but also one of the world's most deeply-rooted democracies."

He urged Venezuelans to wait for the first official electoral result report to be disclosed by the National Electoral Council (CNE).
