Prince of Asturias Felipe de Borbón Sunday in Buenos
Aires met with President Hugo Chávez "in total normalcy,"
Monday said official Spanish sources in the Argentinean capital.
Their meeting -which was the first following an impasse between
Chávez and King Juan Carlos I during the 17th Ibero-American
Summit in Chile- took place late Sunday, before a dinner party
the Argentinean government offered to the heads of State and
Government visiting the country to attend the inauguration
on Monday of Cristina Fernández de Kirchner as the President
of Argentina.
The source disclosed that was Chávez -with total normalcy-
addressed Prince Felipe while they were waiting for the official
salutation before the dinner party, Efe reported.
They were accompanied by Chilean President Michelle Bachelet,
French Prime Minister François Fillon and Canadian Governor-General
Michael Jean.
"Their meeting was relaxed and normal. The Prince was impeccable,
as usual," the Spanish diplomatic source said.
Meanwhile, Spanish Secretary of State for Ibero-America Trinidad
Jiménez also talked to Chávez, and labeled the meeting
as "short and nice."
On Sunday, Caracas issued a communiqué reading, "the
Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela believes
a clarification is needed" about an alleged "message the Spanish
Minister of Foreign Affairs gave to the Venezuelan Ambassador
to the Kingdom of Spain."
According to Jiménez, such a message -which allegedly
announced that Prince Felipe would meet in Buenos Aires with
Chávez to convey a message from his father King Juan
Carlos I- did not exist.
