Venezuelan Vice-Minister of Citizens' Security Tarek Al Aissami
Monday rejected US Drug Czar John Walters' claims in Bogota
that Venezuela does not take efficient moves to uproot drug
traffic.
Al Aissami asserted that the United States "lacks moral stature
to talk about the implementation of measures and policies
against drug traffic."
"This unlucky statement and this regrettable stance by this
imperialist official is nothing but an attempt to damage the
positive actions the Venezuelan government has been implementing,"
Al Aissami stressed.
He added that in 2006, Venezuelan authorities seized 57 tons
of different drugs and dismantled 13 laboratories processing
cocaine.
Last week, Walters argued President Hugo Chávez largely
facilitated cocaine traffic.
