Attack against Apostolic Nunciature in Caracas rejected

The legal representative of former student leader Nixon Moreno, together with another student leader of the Los Andes University (ULA), rejected an attack perpetrated against the Apostolic Nunciature in Caracas, where Nixon has been taking refuge for 11 months waiting for a political asylum.

According to a police report, an explosive devise exploited early this morning causing minor damages.

Tamara Suju, legal representative of Moreno, rejected the attack and recalled this is the third one against the diplomatic mission in the last six months. Three months ago, a grenade was launched against the premise and fortunately it did not exploit. 

Moreno sought refuge in the Nunciature after government prosecutors accused him of attempted murder and assault during a student protest in 2006. Many think that the charges are part of a political persecution against Moreno.
