Ecuador does not have any information about any "impending
operation" by the rebel Colombian Revolutionary Armed Forces
(FARC) to release any hostages, including Ingrid Betancourt,
in Ecuadorian territory, official sources told AFP, amidst
rumors about a likely liberation of hostages.
"We can say that Ecuador does not have any information about
an impending operation for the release or swap of French-Colombian
Ingrid Betancourt," a senior official with the Ministry of
Domestic and Foreign Security said.
Ecuador claims that Colombia frustrated the release of 12
hostages when it attacked the FARC camp last weekend.
