Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez Tuesday said he has
never given or sent any kind of resources to the rebel Colombian
Revolutionary Armed Forces (FARC).
"I am not going to offer the FARC USD 300,000 (…) we have
given them nothing at all, not a single dollar, a peso or
an ammunition," said Chávez.
He added that representatives of some Colombian and Venezuela
sectors "are trying to erase the reality" and downplay efforts
by his government in the last nine years aimed at finding
a settlement to the conflict in Colombia.
The Venezuelan ruler underscored that he never had a direct
communication with FARC second in command Raúl Reyes,
who was killed last March 1 during a Colombian military attack
in Ecuadorian territory.
