Retired General Raúl Isaías Baduel, a former Defense
Minister, accused Venezuelan President Chávez of inciting
insurrection in Venezuela.
Baduel claimed that President Chávez's latest moves,
such as plans to introduce a new syllabus, dismantle decentralization,
and develop a socialist economic plan, as well as the recent
statements made by senior military officers, bear witness
to the Venezuelan ruler's intentions.
Baduel stressed Chávez is pushing his intended changes
to the Constitution -which were rejected by the Venezuelan
people in a vote last December 2. According to Chávez's
ex Defense Minister, the Venezuelan ruler has been illegally
enforcing a number of regulations provided under such reform.
In Baduel's view, Chávez has implemented such moves with
the support of the remaining Venezuelan state's branches which,
he claimed, are subordinate to the president's will.
