The suitcase scandal is heard not only in Argentinean and
US courts, but also in Uruguay, where the alleged links of
Guido Antonini Wilson with a seized suitcase filled with USD
800,000 in cash are probed.
This week, Uruguayan criminal judge Juan Carlos Fernández
Lecchini, took the testimony of some representatives of Venezuelan
state-run oil holding Petróleos de Venezuela (Pdvsa),
reported Uruguay's daily newspaper Últimas Noticias.
According to the newspaper, which did not disclose the names
of the examined officials, the witnesses denied any link of
Pdvsa with Antonini Wilson.
The judge is expected to take new testimony in June while
awaiting the reply of a number of official communications
to multiple government agencies in order to collect information.
A complaint made last November by some Uruguayan deputies
is intended to ascertain whether there is a relationship between
the Uruguayan government and Antonini, as he visited Montevideo
on multiple occasions.
In Argentina, Criminal Judge Daniel Petrone issued an international
bench warrant against ex Pdvsa VP Diego Uzcátegui and
his son Daniel for them to be taken to Argentina and give
testimony as suspects of money laundering.
