Andrés Izarra, Venezuelan Minister of Communication
and Information, reported that Venezuela will preside over
and host the Conference of Communications Ministers of the
Non-Aligned Movement to be held in island Margarita.
Izarra said that the conference would deal with communication,
information flow, the media dictatorship and a new world communication
order.
During the meeting, the Venezuelan delegation will submit
a progress report on the country's contribution to Radio Sur
and will seek partnerships to enlarge the network.
The minister announced also the establishment of the non-aligned
news agency to be headquartered in Malaysia. Venezuela will
join the editorial staff.
Out of the 118 member states of the Non-Aligned Movement,
73 delegations confirmed their participation, including 43
at the ministerial level and 11 at the level of vice-ministers.
