NAM wants to liberate from information hegemony

Members of the Non Aligned Movement (NAM) wish to create a media network in order to break the information hegemony of the Great Powers, said Venezuela's Communication and Information Minister, Andrés Izarra.

Izarra told official news agency ABN that the main purpose of the Seventh Conference of the Non Aligned Movement Information Ministers (Cominac) is to establish that network.

"We want a new international information order. Besides the consolidation and expansion of Telesur network, Venezuela is proposing to create a radio of the South and a network of content production that serves as an information databank for all our countries in order to achieve the democratization of information", the Communication Minister said in the conference held on Margarita island, Venezuela.
