NAM wants to liberate from information hegemony
Members of the Non Aligned Movement (NAM) wish to create a media network in order to break the information hegemony of the Great Powers, said Venezuela's Communication and Information Minister, Andrés Izarra.

Izarra told official news agency ABN that the main purpose of the Seventh Conference of the Non Aligned Movement Information Ministers (Cominac) is to establish that network.

"We want a new international information order. Besides the consolidation and expansion of Telesur network, Venezuela is proposing to create a radio of the South and a network of content production that serves as an information databank for all our countries in order to achieve the democratization of information", the Communication Minister said in the conference held on Margarita island, Venezuela.

Chávez threatens again to "take reprisals" for new European immigrations rules
Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez on Thursday threatened again "to take reprisals" against countries that apply new immigration rules approved by the European Union.

"It is outrageous what Europe is doing, we must rise our voices before Europe (...) It is not enough to rise our voices, we should take reprisals," said Chávez, who recently threatened to review investments in Venezuela of countries applying the new rules, reported Efe.

Chávez made these comments during the Seventh Conference of the Non Aligned Movement Information Ministers, which is being held on Margarita Island, Venezuela.

Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez suggested creating a "world communications network that voices the words of our peoples." His remarks came during his speech at the Seventh Conference of Ministers of Information of the Non Aligned Movement (Cominac), which is being held in Margarita Island, Venezuela.

"I hope we can set up a great social TV network with offices, studios, and satellites all over the Caribbean, Asia and Africa," Chávez said. He urged both governments and peoples to embrace this initiative, reported the Venezuelan state news agency ABN.

"It must be a world network," Chávez said.
