Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez held on Wednesday a
telephone conversation with French-Colombian politician Ingrid
Betancourt, who was rescued last week after more than six
years as hostage of the Colombian Revolutionary Armed Forces
(FARC), reported the head of state during a speech.
Chávez said that he spoke with Betancourt for half an
hour and expressed hope in managing "in coordination with
her" to get the release of all the people kidnapped by the
FARC and promoting peace talks with the Colombian guerrillas,
AFP quoted.
