Chávez arrives in Belarus to boost military and energy cooperation

Venezuela's Hugo Chávez arrived Wednesday in the former
Soviet Republic of Belarus to meet with President Alexander
Lukashenko and discuss energy and military cooperation issues.
"With our friend, President Lukashenko, we have witnessed improved
cooperation between Belarus and Venezuela," Chávez said
at Minsk airport upon his arrival, AFP reported.
The Venezuelan ruler said his country intends to double trade
and economic cooperation with Belarus.
During this working visit, both leaders are expected to talk
about military and energy cooperation. In the past, Venezuela
and Belarus have signed several agreements related to energy,
mining, technology, agribusiness, petrochemicals and gas.
Both countries already established a joint venture to certify
and develop Venezuelan crude oil reserves in the Orinoco oil
belt.
