A plan by Argentinean energy utility Enarsa and Venezuelan
state-run oil company Petróleos de Venezuela (Pdvsa)
for a joint network of 600 gas stations throughout Argentina
will be left pending.
Over the next days, the two only outlets of the joint venture
will be transferred to Pdvsa, reported on Monday the Buenos
Aires press.
According to Enarsa sources quoted by daily newspaper Crítica
and released by Efe, the reasons for the "divorce" include
different views and ways of management, in addition to low
profitability of fuels in Argentina, where the market is regulated.
In February 2005, when the first joint gas station opened
in Buenos Aires, Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez expressed
his government intention to open 600 outlets based on a USD
1.5-billion investment.
