Vice-President of the National Electoral Council (CNE) Janeth
Hernández said that the top electoral body would comply
with any ruling Supreme Tribunal of Justice (TSJ) may issue
in connection with the political ineligibility of dozens of
potential candidates for local elections.
She added that the public servants barred from the upcoming
vote would not be allowed to run next November for mayors
or governors.
Hernández's remarks came during an interview with state-run
TV channel Venezolana de Televisión (VTV). The official
said that the CNE is working since January 8 to prepare for
the local elections, Venezuelan official news agency ABN reported.
