Venezuelan Minister of Foreign Affairs Nicolás Maduro
and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad agreed on Tuesday
on the need for closer cooperation between the two countries
and for strengthening the bilateral agreements signed in the
last few years.
According to a press release issued by the Venezuelan Ministry
of Foreign Affairs, Maduro and Ahmadinejad agreed "to strengthen
the more than 200 agreements currently in force between both
countries in the framework of the strategic friendship" linking
both nations.
Maduro is in Tehran to participate in a meeting of Foreign
Ministers of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).
During their meeting, the two leaders reviewed the international
situation; expressed the need to strengthen South-South cooperation
and paid special attention to the world food crisis, according
to the statement.
