Chávez to visit Ecuador in October to review Pdvsa agreements

Economy President Hugo Chávez will visit Ecuador on October 28, to follow up the agreements undertaken with state-owned oil company Petróleos de Venezuela (Pdvsa), reported on Friday Galo Chiriboga, the Ecuadorian Minister of Mines and Petroleum.

"This is basically a visit to track the agreements we have with Pdvsa. We expect to complete the operations and activities in the Sacha field (in the Amazon region). We also want to review bilateral energy issues we have with Venezuela," Chiriboga said on the Ecuadorian public radio, as reported by Efe.

The top official recalled that Ecuador has not only oil operations in Venezuela, but also in Chile, a country with which Ecuador organized a few weeks ago a joint venture to explore an area of the Gulf of Guayaquil in search of natural gas.

Works flying high

05:09 PM. Economy. If any country has cashed in on the Bolivarian revolution, that is Brazil, particularly the private companies of the southern neighbor. Over the past five years, it has been awarded contracts for works to be carried out in Venezuela for over USD 14 billion. This puts it as the first recipient of government-to-government contracts, that is, without bidding, since Hugo Chávez took office.
