Jesús Ollarves, the attorney of Manuel Rosales, former mayor of Maracaibo, the capital city of western Zulia state, and major opposition leader, rebutted the remarks made on Tuesday by Cilia Flores, the head of the National Assembly (AN).
According to Flores, Peru has become a site for Venezuelan political and common offenders.
In Ollarves's opinion, the congresswoman's words show disrespect for Peru. It is Venezuela, he said, what has become instead a site of criminals.
"Venezuela is a country where the right to life, personal security, citizen's security is systematically violated (…) Ms. Cilia Flores, you cannot ignore that your role as president of the Venezuelan parliament is rulemaking. Rather that ludicrously chasing Manuel Rosales, please work on a bill where Venezuelans may use the appropriate resources and have the appropriate and comprehensive redress for common offenses."
