A new incident took place at the facilities of Venezuelan state-run oil company Pdvsa on Sunday. Three workers were injured.

According to information revealed by the oil company, the event occurred at 4:50 a.m. on Sunday in Pdvsa's upgrader of Petromonagas, a joint venture attached to the upgrading division, Production Department of the Orinoco Oil Belt (FPO).

The incident was attributed to "a mechanical failure caused by pressure" during cleaning of tank 31-TK-3101. The event "led to a leak of non-inflammable biodegradable solution."

Firefighters and members of the health and safety team responded 40 minutes after the incident, thus avoiding damages to the facilities and the environment, Pdvsa explained.

The El Perú police station, in El Callao municipality, south of Bolívar state, south Venezuela, came under sustained fire with more than 100 bullets smacking into its walls. According to police records, a gang of 15 gunmen identified as members of the so-called "mining unions" arrived on motorbikes in the evening of August 23 and began opening fire on the police station. They intended to get back a belt pack containing guns, bullets and memory storage devices.
