Representatives of opposition Unified Democratic Panel (MUD) filed a lawsuit with the Supreme Tribunal of Justice seeking annulment of the migration in the Register of Voters of a number of members of ruling party PSUV.
Lawyer Luis Aquiles Moreno, member of opposition party Acción Democrática (AD) and MUD, stated that the migrations okayed the National Electoral Council (CNE) has okayed "are illegal." He added that such moves "violate provisions set forth in Article 40 of the Organic Law on Electoral Processes, providing that upon the closure of the Register of Voters, neither individuals shall be included in such register nor modifications shall be made."
Moreno reminded that the Register of Voters was closed early in June, "therefore, everything done until this time is valid for both the presidential and the gubernatorial elections only."
"Some 108 people were migrated from one state to another. This is very suspicious. Many of the people migrated are running for governor in states, where they do not even vote," he explained.
