Fire at Venezuelan international airport causes delays and chaos

Some departures and arrivals at Venezuela's Simón Bolívar international airport continued on hold early on Wednesday afternoon after a fire event was reported in the morning.

Some of the affected departures are those of Aerolíneas Argentinas flying to Buenos Aires, Argentina; American Airlines and Aserca, flying to Miami, US; Cubana de Aviación, Havana, Cuba; Conviasa, Bogota, Colombia; American Airlines, San Juan, Puerto Rico; Continental Airlines, Panama; and Varig, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The airport facilities are in chaos. There are lines everywhere. There is no access to the airport and national airport's parking lots are overcrowded in the absence of access to the international airport's parking lot.
