No complaints about alleged molestation on Judge María Lourdes Afiuni have been lodged at the Ministry of Women, Minister Nancy Pérez maintained.
Early in her arrest, Afiuni was detained in the women's prison. However, the minister vowed that "if the action turns out to be true," an inquest will be conducted and the Judge will be ensured all her rights.
"I have received no report of violence against the judge; in the event of receiving it, we will act accordingly," the senior authority told Unión Radio.
"Business as usual, some media use news and speculate on certain events without having corroborated them, just because they have a political intent. I am not saying that this is the case, yet I would like to stress that I have under an obligation to request the investigation and the revision," she clarified.
The occurrence was disclosed by Francisco Olivares, a journalist working with El Universal, in his book hot off the press "Afiuni, la presa del Comandante" (Afiuni The Commander's prisoner).
In the author's words, the event "was handled in reserve." "This is quite understandable, because such things are not easy to face in public," Olivares reasoned.

The dialogue experience
José Vicente Rangel clearly said: "We are not conducting negotiations threatened with a gun in the head." He warned behind closed doors in the midst of the social upheaval occurred during the oil strike in 2002 and 2003. Dissenting Timoteo Zambrano answered back that no other option was available: "The thing is that otherwise, you do not negotiate."
