The Colombian Revolutionary Armed Forces (FARC) voiced in Havana solidarity with Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez, in view of his renewed health deterioration forcing him to a new surgery to attack his cancer.

"We would like to express our solidarity and give encouragement to President Hugo Chávez at this crossroads of his life," said Iván Márquez, the FARC second-in-command and head of the guerrilla delegation in the ongoing peace talks in Havana with Colombian government authorities, AFP quoted.

"We wish the Bolivarian Commander a prompt recovery," read out Márques in a brief communiqué.

Also, the FARC thanked the Venezuelan leader for "the magnanimous token of handing over his heart to help build peace in Colombia."
