Parliament to discuss Chávez's sick leave of absence
"We have faced many tests throughout this process. Fortunately we had the leadership, presence, and personality of Chávez," Speaker of the National Assembly (AN) Diosdado Cabello told state-run television channel Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), adding that he was confident that Chávez would fully recover
Chavez announced late Saturday that he would travel Sunday back to Cuba for a new surgery to remove newly detected cancer cells in the area where he had a cancerous tumor last year.
Cabello talked with state-run television channel Venezolana de Televisión (VTV) few minutes after the president's announcement. "This is the Chávez we all love. He has been with us through thick and thin, and has given us life lessons."
"We have faced many tests throughout this process. Fortunately we had the leadership, presence, and personality of Chávez," Cabello stressed, adding that he was confident that Chávez would recover. The AN Speaker rejected speculations about the Venezuelan president's health.
A shipment of over 30,000 tons of phosphate arrived at Puerto Cabello port in late July on board the Shi Long Ling, a Chinese-flagged vessel that began its long journey in northern Africa. The cargo boat docked on July 26 after traveling more than 3,200 nautical miles. Undoubtedly, this would just be considered one in many cargo ships crisscrossing the oceans if it were not for the fact that Venezuela has denounced Western Sahara occupation by Morocco and yet purchases the territory's natural resource products from the occupying power.
