The health status of President of Venezuela Hugo Chávez remains delicate; he is undergoing treatment for continued respiratory complications and is not exempt from risk, said on Sunday night Executive Vice-President Nicolás Maduro, from Havana, Cuba, in a mandatory radio and television address intended to report on Chávez's health 19 days after his third cancer operation.
Maduro said that once he arrived in the Cuban capital on Saturday, he went to the hospital were Chávez is being treated to ascertain the state of health of the Venezuelan president. He reported that he spoke with Chávez and informed him of the latest developments in Venezuela. For his part, Chávez instructed Maduro to disclose his health status.
