Former Paraguayan President Fernando Lugo will be attending a rally in Venezuela on Thursday in support of Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez, who is currently in Cuba recovering from a cancer surgery, and who announced that he will not attend his swearing-in ceremony for his new term in office.

According to state-run news agency AVN, other Latin American leaders will be attending the event as well, namely José Mujica, Uruguay; and Evo Morales, Bolivia. Argentinean Foreign Minister Héctor Timerman and his Ecuadorian counterpart, Ricardo Patiño, will also travel to Venezuela to attend the rally.
